This is one of my favorite shows. I could happily watch the pilot on end for a twenty-four hour period. And if you haven't been paying attention, that is saying something because I hate pilots. The writing is just so great on this show. It's dirty, it's sexy, it's money. There are great characters, an amazing cast and the writing is amazing. The feel of this show is also great. I am intrigued by all of the drama and sordid affairs, but there are hilarious moments as well.
The show follows Nick George who, after his father's death, becomes the lawyer to the richest and most prominent New York City family, the Darlings. All of the children are misadjusted adults and he is constantly doing something ridiculous to sort out their lives. One day it might be dealing with Patrick Darling (who is running for Senator)'s transgender mistress, another day he is forcing the twins to stay on a budget when planning their birthday parties. Throughout it all, he is trying to find out who killed his father and thinks it might have been one of the Darlings.
This episode involved escalating the tension between Tripp Darling and Simon Elder, the filthy rich newcomer who has it in for the Darling dynasty. Things also get sticky between Nick and his wife when she learns that Karen Darling kissed Nick (in 1x07), while Jeremy courts a woman while hiding the fact that he is a Darling. Rev. Brian Darling battles for custody of his (out-of-wedlock) son, Brian, Jr., who's mother wants to bring him to Brazil.
Seriously, I can't say enough good things about this show. Well, I might when I post about the next episode, because now you are all caught up.

The Mentalist 1x01: Pilot
I'm not sure how accurate my opinion on this one will be. I read the script before I saw it and LOVED the script. It was sooo good. This (and Castle) are what I'm most excited for this season. This however, wasn't as good as the script. They took out some scenes changed some things and it just didn't work for me. The casting was okay. Not who I would have cast, but hey. Maybe that is my new calling in life.
For those who don't know (aka-Rose Marie), The Mentalist is about a super-observant genius who is a consultant for the Serious Crimes Unit of the California Bureau of Investigation. His biggest case is the serial killer Red John, who killed his family.

Privileged 1x01: Pilot
Well, I did try it out. And it's okay. Not brilliant, but not terrible. I like the characters, I like the clothes, I kind of sort of like the idea. The writing it just okay. The conflict between Sage and Megan is promising, but seriously, how long can a fight between a spoiled teenager and a Yale-graduate meeting all the right people last? I'll give the next episode a try and then we'll see. I'm not really a fan of pilots to begin with.
One other thing to mention: I love the casting of this show. Brian Hallisay is gorgeous and talented, especially for his first time as a series regular. Keep him coming! Joanna Garcia is pretty and fun! Also, I love the gay chef. He's fabulous.

Gossip Girl 2x01: Summer, Kind of Wonderful
Hey there Upper East-siders, Gossip Girl here. Spotted, brand new episodes of Gossip Girl on the CW. As angry as I was with the Season One finale, the Season Two premier looks promising. You may just have a repeat viewer.
Wow, trying to write like GG, with Kristen Bell's (she's on my list) voice in my head is a lot harder than it looks if I want to actually say something. So... basically, this episode just established where each relationship is going to start off from for this season. Nate is banging a married woman and using Serena as an alibi. Serena and Dan both still love each other, we'll see where that goes. Jenny is finally back to sweet Little J and has made up with Eric (oh, Eric). And last but not least, the tension between Chuck and Blair is on red alert. But Blair has brought home a boyfriend from Europe. I LOVED the Blair/Chuck storyline and I now see that the only way the tantalizingly fun story can only be sustained if they are trying to not be together. Yeah for bringing back my favorite part of the show.
This just in, the OMFG campaign is finally over (I think). Now they're opting for the sales pitch of "parents worst nightmare". Seriously, someone fire their publicist. The OMFG campaign made me cringe. Sure I said that to myself (and over text) when Blair lost it to Nate in the back seat of a limo (seriously, what else can you say to that!). But that needed to be grassroots. I hated seeing it on billboards and commercials. Especially since I didn't see it until after the season finale, so it just seemed a little OTT for the summer break.
Also spotted on IMDB, a full 22 episode season with some amazing plot twists (read the log lines on IMDB). And lucky for us, GG isn't going to be Cut from the CW team. It may not have good ratings, but apparently it is doing amazing things for teen fashion everywhere. Following the GG trend on the CW is 90210, which I won't be watching, and Privileged, which I think I may sample.
As an aside, the CW teamed up GG with One Tree Hill, which was apparently successful. Let me say a little bit about One Tree Hill and then we'll never talk about it again. I tried to watch it. I love the premise. But seriously, it is OTT and I can't handle it. And this is coming from someone who wishes she was the real GG. They're married in high school? She's a rock star? He's a pro baller? What? Seriously? Well, good luck with that.

Fringe 1x01: Pilot
WOW! What else can I say? Honestly, I didn't expect much from this show. J.J. Abrams? Really? He brought us Lost (ew!) and Felicity. Seriously? How could he give me anything that I would want to watch on a weekly basis? But seriously, everything from the concept to the casting was dead on brilliant and I'm hooked. Damn.
Basically, there is an FBI agent (Anna Torv) who starts an investigation that involves fringe science. In order to solve her case (and save her lover), she needs the help of a scientist (John Noble) who was the leading fringe scientist in the 70s. The only problem is that there was a lab accident that resulted in the death of an assistant so he is in a mental institution and can only be visited or signed out by a member of his immediate family. Bring in the super sex, genius, trouble-making, slightly scruffy, bad-boy son (Joshua Jackson). The three team up to save the day, but in the process discover that someone is doing lots of fringe science experiments and using the world as a lab. They solve the problem at hand (the lover), but now they have a lot more to face.
Now, for those who think I just ruined the end of the (long) pilot, I say "Nay!". I dare you to watch it and not say "oh shit" at the end. Yeah. I was surprised at the end. And I am very rarely surprised. Seriously, the writing was tight, the science was cool (although probably unlikely, I'm not a science kid and don't particularly care) and the acting was great.
In case you didn't guess, I'm a big Joshua Jackson fan. Dawson's creek? Hell no. Might Ducks, baby! And he is just as sexy as he ever was. I'm actually quite excited that he is finally in a television program that I want to watch. The Skulls and the Ducks were awesome, but they didn't put his face on my TV on a weekly basis. Dawson's creek is like acid being poured on your brain. Finally, I can happily watch J.J. and not want to stab myself. Torv is good too. She's gorgeous (think Serena from Gossip Girl, but not an alcoholic socialite), and Noble's performance is great. He's a genius but certifiable. Sometimes he reminded me of the Joker. What a great (and creepy) performance.
Any ways it looks like this is going to be a procedural with an amazing season to season story line. I can't wait until the 16th when the new one comes out.

Monk 7x06: Mr. Monk Falls In Love
I've loved this show for about 2 or 3 years now, but I don't remember the first season at all. That is unfortunate, but understandable as it is now in its SEVENTH season. Wow. It's been around a while. I love this shows, and I love the character, but I'm surprised at how sustainable it has been. This episode shows Monk falling in love with someone other than Trudy. It was hard for me to believe and didn't feel set up. However, I haven't been following this season so maybe it was set up. Also, does anyone know if the Trudy murder plot was ever wrapped up? I remember some crucial episodes a few seasons ago.
As for this episode, it didn't work for me. I liked the idea that everyone thought the evidence pointed at one person and Monk absolutely knew that it wasn't. I like that Monk always knows who the murderer is. That is fun. However, I like when Monk deducts things and makes things perfect. There was barely of this in the episode, so it was a little boring and disappointing.

Bones 1x01
This show has been on for a while and I've seen an episode or two, but honestly I didn't think it would last this long. So, I've decided to give it a chance and start with the pilot. Basically, it is Cold Case meets Numbers with anthropology. I kind of like it. Here is the basic premise: An anthropologist acts as a consultant for the FBI to solve murder cases where the only evidence is a skeleton.
It's a pretty interesting show, although I wasn't particularly wowed. It's worth me watching another episode, but I don't know if I'd watch an entire season. There isn't really anything particularly bad about the show. But at the same time, there isn't anything that sticks out in my mind as being particularly good.
This is probably the worst blog entry ever, but I'll watch another episode and see if it gets better.

Psych 3x06: There Might Be Blood
Psych is probably one of my favorite shows. It's quite clever, the dialogue is great, I still love the premise and it has some of the best characters of any show out there. In this episode, the Chief wants to investigate the mysterious death of a safety inspector on an oil rig. But the investigation is out of her jurisdiction, which brings out a long-running sibling rivalry between her and her sister, who is a Captain in the Coast Guard.
This episode wasn't one of the best that this show has to offer. Usually, I love it, but the opening scene where Gus and Shaun are in the boat with the Chief seemed forced. There was something really off about it and none of the actors seemed to deliver their lines particularly well. It did get better after that, but the episode really focused on the chief and her sister. It still had a lot of Shaun and Gus humor, but I wish there were more and I would have liked it better if Shaun had got himself into a few more awkward situations. Overall, this episode was disappointing.

House 4x16: Wilson's Heart
Amber is in ICU when House realizes that she was in the bus crash and needs to see a doctor immediately. But House still can't remember everything that happened, and Wilson and House's team might be too close to the patient to be able to treat her effectively.
Well, talk about heartbreak. I HATED Amber at the beginning of the season, but I was balling by the end of the episode. I really am sad and I'm glad I was behind on watching House. If I had watched this months ago when it came out and had to wait for Season 5, I don't know what I would have done. As it is now, I only have to wait a week and it still may be too long. I was hoping for a miraculous recovery at the end, but I'm glad there wasn't one. It would have felt forced.
As for the structure of the episode, I love when we are put inside House's head and get to try to figure out how he thinks. He is such a great character and these episodes really allow for some great character development. Don't get me wrong, I love when he is just an ass to everybody, but episodes like this really balance the show and help to keep it as one of my favorite procedurals.
I think some people think Amber is going to make a great comeback and won't be dead anymore come Season five, but I think she is gone for good. However, all of the character development as well as 13 being positive for Huntington's means that Season Five is going to have a lot more to offer us. Although, House has been on for a while now and I worry about it getting cancelled. What would I do without Hugh Laurie using an American accent? Hopefully Season Five will be able to keep up the momentum and won't be disappointing.

Well, in the absence of a real life and because I miss Rose Marie, I'm going to start blogging about what I watch, episode by episode. I may catch up on some of my favorite shows, but really, that is a tremendous time commitment, so I'm going to pick up where I left off on each show. Also, I'll probably blog about everything not book/dream related here as well. Anything pop culture or sort of related to my life. Sound fair? Well, let's begin.
